8:45 PM D.C. time

We love your messages because they cheer us up and give us renewed faith. Our afternoon wasn't as happy as the AM. Nothing bad, but they put him back on the respirator (or ventilator) though they said he did good breathing on his own. I guess it is common to wean patients from the machine by taking them off for a few hours at a time. His fever was elevated to 100.7 and they also reduced his pain medication. I think because of these two things he was sweating, shivering and in pain.
We were definitely in pain along with him. They finally increased his pain medication and by the time we left him tonight he seemed a little more comfortable.

We of course rejoice in the fact that his eyes are opening more and more and for longer periods of time. But it sure is hard to leave him at night. Tonight as we were leaving, we said a few last words to the nurse and I looked back into the room and it seemed as if he was staring right at me (we still don't know if he can focus on us or not), so I went back in and told him again that we were leaving for the night and would be back early in the morning. I said he was doing good and getting stronger and that I loved him and was very proud of him. I told him to relax and get some sleep, and he instantly closed his eyes and I could see his body relax as a peace seemed to come over him.

We pray tonight for the fever to again go down, and for him to breath on his own tomorrow for even longer.

Steve

Dear Huddlestons,
Praise God for the good report of today. David is a very lucky young man to have such a wonderful family as you all are. My prayers are continually with you all and especially for David, he's a real trooper.
Blessings,
Penny

Steve ~ I just loved hearing from you today, and your words about the soldiers sacrificing their dreams for our freedom were powerful. The girls are such articulate writers and I love their posts but was wondering about you..as your past month has been tough. I bet it is a bit overwhelming the response but we all are so thankful to have the job and privledge of praying specifically for the needs of the day. Just look at the number of visitors to the site and imagine at least that many prayers go up on his behalf daily..wow.BIG HUG to you and Patty.

David, We are all so proud of you and your spirt. It was nice to hear that you were able to breath on your own. In time you will able to breath all the time on your own! We are praying for your everyday and night and in between it all. Tor is worried about you and reads and prays for you throughout her day. I am so happy to hear that your beautiful blue eyes continue to open for longer periods of time. Patty and Steve we think of you and what your going through and pray for you to continue to be strong. What a beautiful family you have and one to be quite proud of. You know we all love our David and can't wait until he is back in CA. Our love to you all, Lisa & Tori Anderson and family
